We would like to inform you that the deadline of ‘a Sea of Words’ literary contest is extended until Sunday, May 24.

Are you staying indoors during these challenging times of corona? Do you feel like writing? The Euro-Mediterranean Youth Literary Contest of 2020 is on! Are you a national and a resident of one of the 42 EuroMed countries? If yes, and if you are between ages 18 and 30 and interested in the topics of climate change and sustainable development, pick up a pen and write us a short story! The authors of the 10 best texts, selected by an international jury, will be invited to Barcelona to attend the awards presentation ceremony (30 September) and a creative writing workshop and a cultural exchange to be held from 30 September to 2 October 2020.

You may write in any official language of the 42 EuroMed countries, and the maximum length is 2500 words. The contest is organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the European Institute for the Mediterranean (IEMed). The aim of the competition is to give a voice to young people in the Euro-Mediterranean region, to make them aware of issues related to the 2030 Agenda, and to create meeting places to foster debate around shared issues and values.

The short story should be sent to concurso@iemed.org by 17 May 2020. You can find more instructions and information on the contest here. The stories selected will be published in a book in digital format with the texts in the original languages and their corresponding English translations.
