Celebrating Our Diversity Festival invites you to a unique music experience with the Helsinki-based band MA Rouf on Friday 28 May at 8 pm Helsinki/Beirut time (7 pm Berlin/Cairo time).

MA Rouf plays unique Nordic Sufi jazz fusion. Their music stems from the traditional dark rhythms and spiritual Sufi music of the Middle East, fertilized with Scandinavian jazz influences. MA Rouf represents more than a century of continuity and openness in jazz.

MA Rouf and was established by the Finnish-Iranian master musician Marouf Majidi. He comes from Sanandaj, the musical capital of Kurdistan, and his rich Middle Eastern heritage gives the unique and enchanting sound for their music. The roots of MA Rouf’s music are in the Middle Eastern tradition fertilized with Afro-centric and Scandinavian jazz influences.
