Tapahtuman kuvaus

This call for participation is restricted to members of the Anna Lindh Foundation networks and National campaign committee partners of the No Hate Speech Movement in the designated countries.

In collaboration with the Council of Europe and the Anna Lindh Foundation network coordinators in Finland, Denmark and Germany, the Swedish network will host the Regional Training Seminar on Countering Hate Speech through Human Rights Education.

When: 3-6 April 2017 (arrival on 2 and departure on 6 April)
Where: Världskulturmuseet, Gothenburg

In 2014, Council of Europe published Bookmarks manual to support the No Hate Speech Movement youth campaign. Bookmarks is useful for educators wanting to address hate speech online from a human rights perspective, both inside and outside the formal education system.

The training seminar aims to build participants’ competences to combat hate speech online and promote human rights on- and offline through human rights education and campaigning.

The training seminar is targeted towards youth workers, educators, non-formal education trainers, and NHSM campaign activists that work with youth on issues related to discrimination, racism and xenophobia and are in a position to implement the gained competences within the framework of the national campaigns and/or initiatives of the Anna Lindh Foundation national networks.

All participants should:

Be member of the Anna Lindh Foundation network in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, or Germany. NHSM campaign coordinators in these countries can apply as well.
Be committed to stay active in the NHSM campaign.
Be in a position to implement the gained competences through education and/or campaign activities.
Be interested in supporting the national campaign committees with the competences gained from the course.
Have a working knowledge of English (official language of the training).

In total, the training will bring together around 22 participants. Each network coordinator will select the number of participants who will attend the training. The Council of Europe will review the short list before the participants are announced.

Logistics

Världskulturmuseet (Museum of World Culture) will cover the travel expenses (of Swedish members), accommodation (from outside Gothenburg) and most of the meals during the training.
