SUOL ry Invites Educators to “Religions, Humanity and Artificial Intelligence” Winter Seminar 2026

Helsinki, Finland ,The Finnish Religion Teachers’ Association SUOL ry will host its annual winter seminar, “Religions, Humanity and Artificial Intelligence” (Talvipäivät 2026), on Saturday, 7 February 2026, at Ressun peruskoulu (Ruoholahdenkatu 23, Helsinki) and online via Zoom.

The seminar will explore how religion, human values, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence interact — asking: What relevance does AI have in relation to religion and humanity?


Program Highlights (Summary)

The 2026 Winter Seminar features leading scholars and educators discussing the relationship between religion, humanity, and artificial intelligence.

  • Prof. Katja Valaskivi explores how AI and religion intersect globally and in Finland.
  • Dr. Anton Berg examines how image-recognition technology influences perceptions of religion.
  • Dr. Aku Visala addresses the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence.
  • Dr. Ville Mäkipelto discusses the role of AI in religious education.

The day also includes the announcement of the Religion Teacher of the Year 2026, SUOL ry’s annual general meeting, and an optional evening dinner and celebration.
