FiPSR Launches Campaign for Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Awareness

Helsinki, August 2024 – The Finnish Psychologists for Social Responsibility (FiPSR), known in Finnish as Psykologien Sosiaalinen Vastuu ry (PSV), has initiated a significant campaign this August to address the mental health challenges faced by immigrant and refugee communities in Finland. Recognizing the unique struggles these groups encounter, FiPSR’s initiative seeks to bring attention to the mental health needs of these vulnerable populations, advocating for culturally sensitive and accessible mental health services.

The campaign involves a series of educational workshops and public discussions aimed at both mental health professionals and the broader public. These events are designed to equip professionals with the necessary tools to provide effective and compassionate care to immigrants and refugees, many of whom have experienced trauma and significant cultural dislocation.

FiPSR’s efforts this month are part of a broader mission to ensure that social justice and human rights are central to mental health care practices in Finland. The organization continues to collaborate with community groups and other NGOs to amplify the impact of this campaign. For more information on this initiative, you can visit the website: https://lsv.fi/english/
