Hyvärilä Hosts Kesätalkoot Event Featuring Multicultural Activities

On July 5, 2024, Hyvärilä hosted the Kesätalkoot event, organized by young people from across Europe who participated in the Summer Talkoot camp. This inclusive event was free and open to everyone, offering a relaxed atmosphere where participants could engage in collaborative activities and learn new skills. The program featured a blend of English and Finnish languages to accommodate diverse backgrounds.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a Swap Party, where they exchanged clothes, shoes, accessories, books, and home decor items with others. This initiative promoted eco-friendly practices by encouraging the reuse of goods and aimed to reduce textile waste. Participants were invited to bring up to four items in good condition suitable for the summer season.

The event also offered a culinary journey through Europe with International Snacks prepared by camp participants, providing a taste of different cultures and flavors. Additionally, guests could join in building Insect Hotels using provided materials, supporting local biodiversity and offering habitats for various insects. Participants had the option to take their creations home or leave them at Hyvärilä.

For those interested in traditional practices, the event included Meadow Mowing demonstrations using a scythe, showcasing a traditional skill and supporting biodiversity by maintaining a diverse habitat for insects.

The Kesätalkoot event at Hyvärilä provided a day of cultural exchange, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, highlighting the talents and diversity of young people from across Europe.
