JoMoni to Host 2024 Anti-Racism Week Activities

JoMoni, the multicultural association based in Joensuu, is set to coordinate the National
Anti-Racism Week from March 18 to March 24, 2024. This event, part of a larger initiative
by the Finnish Red Cross, aims to promote awareness and action against racism in the
Joensuu area and beyond. Over the course of the week, a diverse range of activities will be
organized to engage the community and provide platforms for those who have experienced
racism to share their stories(JoMoni).
The Anti-Racism Week has become an annual highlight for JoMoni, reflecting the
organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusion and understanding among different
cultural groups in North Karelia. Participants can look forward to various events, including
discussions, workshops, and community gatherings that emphasize the importance of
recognizing and combating racism in all its forms(JoMoni).

Additionally, JoMoni has received an organizational grant from Siun Sote for 2024 to
enhance its programming aimed at building mental resilience, especially among immigrant
and refugee populations. This funding will support the development of multilingual materials
and training aimed at improving crisis resilience within these communities.
