Green Habito Partners in V Security and Civil Society Conference 2025 in Estonia

The V Security and Civil Society Conference 2025 took place on 5–6 December 2025 at the Toila Spa Hotel in Narva, Estonia, bringing together a wide range of actors working at the intersection of security, development cooperation, humanitarian aid, and civil society.

The three-day international conference gathered experts, policymakers, civil society organizations, youth representatives, researchers, governmental institutions, and community leaders from across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central and West Africa, and beyond. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on current global crises, community resilience, democratic stability, and the role of development cooperation in strengthening European and global security during times of increasing turbulence.

The conference served as a strong networking platform, enabling participants to exchange experiences, build partnerships, and establish long-term cooperation across regions. As a platform for cooperation, it emphasized cross-sectoral collaboration between governments, NGOs, donors, academia, and the private sector, culminating in the co-creation of concrete action plans and the Development Cooperation & Humanitarian Aid Declaration. As a forum for debate, the conference addressed pressing questions related to hybrid threats, shrinking civic space, humanitarian challenges, and the capacity of local communities and civil society to respond to democratic shocks.

Interactive sessions and world-café-style working groups allowed participants to share best practices and develop practical recommendations for future cooperation.

The conference was co-organised by Peace Child Estonia, SSCW, Green Habito, and EuroMeduc Networks, and co-financed by the European Union Cohesion Policy Fund, the Estonian National Foundation of Civil Society, the British Council, the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia, Green Habito, and EuroMeduc Networks.

From Finland, the conference was attended by representatives of Mirsal Ry, AFAES, and Suomen Hazaroiden Kulttuuriyhdistys ry, contributing perspectives on migrant communities, youth engagement, and civil society resilience in the Nordic context.
