ANNA LINDH NETWORK DAYS FOR INTERCULTURAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION
Saturday 26th – Thursday 31st August 2017 in Helsinki, Finland
An intercultural citizenship education event consisting of a forum and a training will be organized in Aug 26-31 in Helsinki by nine national Anna Lindh Foundation networks, connecting Network members from Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Morocco, Poland, Sweden, Tunisia and Turkey to identify timely issues and explore new perspectives related to intercultural citizenship education in their respective countries and to learn about regional differences, similarities and best practices.
The event will bring together over 70 civil society actors, teachers, youth workers and educators from north and south of the Mediterranean who work with youth, education and intercultural dialogue and fight against discrimination, racism and xenophobia and who are in a position to implement the gained competences within the framework of the Anna Lindh Foundation national networks.
The forum (August 26-27) will follow up on the strategic results of the Anna Lindh Euro-Med Civil Society Forum of 2016 in Malta, consisting of panel discussions on intersectional identities and education, and the role of civil society in fostering intercultural learning. In addition, interactive workshops will let the participants discuss and share their best practices in, for example, tackling hate speech and extremism, language learning as a tool for intercultural dialogue, or power of arts in education.
After the forum, a training (August 28-31) for 22 actors of formal and non-formal education sectors in Euro-Mediterranean region will be carried out by a team of expert trainers in the field of intercultural education. The training will rely on a capacity-building methodology based on the Anna Lindh Foundation Education Handbook on Intercultural Citizenship in the Euro-Med region.
